Susan Dane
Susan Dane is an artist and educator who works in ceramics, textiles, and other media. She received her Art Education certification in 2018 after completing a ceramics-focused postbaccalaureate program at CCSU, where she was subsequently employed as the University Assistant.
She is enrolled in an interdisciplinary Visual Arts MFA program through Lesley University. Her work in ceramics ranges from wheel thrown and hand-built functional vessels to sculptural forms that emphasize the textural qualities of various clay bodies.
“Creating an interactive experience of engaging surface textures, meandering lines, active colors, and evocative sounds, my work acts as an invitation to take a labyrinthine journey.
Using ceramics, textiles, and drawing in a contemplative practice, repetitive actions of making forms and marks provide entry into a creative state.
By pairing sounds and visuals with manipulable sound objects, I seek to transmit a version of these states to the viewer-listener-participant.
